PC showing 100 percent processor usage or Slow speed on PC
Processor is the most important part of CPU. If something happens to your PCs processor then game's over. By this I mean that your system will not work smoothly.
Sometimes PCs show hundred percent Processor or CPU usage and its effects appear in the form that either some applications on your PC stop working , some are stuck on initializing , and some application crash during run time. And one of the most common issue is that your PC starts working very slowly. For example if you open a folder or file it takes a lot of time to load that file or to open that folder than usual routine.
There are three main reasons for your PC to show 100 percent usage :
1. One of the most common reason for hundred percent usage of Processor and slow working of PC are viruses that keep on replicating themselves and open multiple file that do not appear in your Task manager and it becomes very difficult to find such programs.
2. Another reason for slow working of CPU or Processor is usage of such software that is really heavy and by heavy I mean such software that require good processor and lot of ram to run. If you try to run that program without checking its requirements than your system will slow down. For Example if you try to run an Antivirus such as Nortron or Avast on a system having processor Core 2 Duo 2.0 and RAM 2 GB. Then its obvious that maximum of your RAM and CPU will be used by that program.
3. Another reason that is less common but very bad for your PC and that is caused due to removal of cooling thermal paste from in between of heat sink and Processor. This usually happens if you open your PC or laptop to clean it up from inside out or if you are installing a new component in your PC or Laptop and you have to remove heat sink that is placed on Processor.
1. First of all install an antivirus on your PC and scan your hard disk for any viruses. If your PC was working slow due to some kind of virus than it will be removed by antivirus and after that restart your PC and your problem will be solved.
2. If your PC does not work properly after scanning and removal of any viruses. Then press Ctrl+Alt+delete. Open task manager and click on tab labeled as processes. Check all the programs that are running and note which process is using most of CPU close that app and your PC will start working at normal speed. If that program is an Antivirus than uninstall that Antivirus and install a light Antivirus such as Microsoft Security Essential.
3. And if you remember that recently you have removed your PCs heat sink from your Processor than check again that the cooling paste is not removed from your Processor or heat sink. If it is removed than your PC will work fine when you start it because processor is at normal temperature and after one or two min your PC will show 100 percent CPU usage. Get thermal paste from market and place a layer on Processor and a layer on heat sink and fix them. If you ignore it you will soon see a fried processor in your CPU.
